Up The Creek is not driven by profit alone. To us, environmental sustainability and social responsibility are equally as important. Our company philosophy is built on respect and appreciation for the planet and the role communities can play in protecting it.

At the lodge we have a robust recycling and compost system, and ask guests to be mindful of water usage and waste. In twenty years of business we’ve never used a clothes dryer – all our laundry is air dried no matter the weather.

We also campaign for active transportation (Martin is the founding board director of Transportation Choices – a collective working to create more sustainable cycling, pedestrian, and transit alternatives to single-occupancy car use) and encourage guests to support our neighbors farming sustainable and often organic produce.
